Dear AGCC members,

We are very pleased to announce the first ever 2-day Test match in Atlanta, GA. Recently, the fast paced Twenty20 format has been an overwhelming success for cricket with all the big flat sixes, reverse sweeps, the Dil-scoop, etc . However, the majority of professional cricketers still consider Test cricket as the most challenging and satisfying form of the game. We all enjoy Twenty20 cricket but hardly anyone in our league have any experience playing Test match cricket. Most of the young players in our league are very effective in the Twenty20 format but they find it hard to survive in the 40 over game. Therefore, we are planning to have a 2-day Test match in Atlanta, GA. By playing a Test match, not only would the players benefit from the unique experience but would also learn the importance of patience, discipline, temperament, strategy, etc. in cricket.

This is an exclusive event and not all the players will be selected for participation. Atlanta Rising Stars CC & Kings XI CC will be hosting this event and would have up to 5 players from their respective teams playing in the test match. There are only 12-14 spots available for selection for the rest of AGCC clubs. The goal is to form two good teams of equal strength and have an exciting Test match for all to enjoy. There is a $20 participation fee per player for the Test match to cover for balls, drinks, umpiring fee, etc. We are planning to have the test match on Dec 19 & 20, 2009 subject to weather conditions. The test match will be played with the red ball in whites and officiated by neutral umpire. The venue for the match will be announced later. Players will be eligible for selection only if they are available for both the days from 9 am to 5 pm. Please contact us as soon as possible if you are interested.
